Google executive, Dan Fredinburg, among the more than 10 dead in Mount Everest avalanche

Dan Fredinburg, a Google executive and an adventurer died, in an avalanche, on Mount Everest Saturday morning after a 7.9 earthquake rocked Nepal.

Dan Fredinburg was on Mount Everest as part of the Jagged Globe team. He died because of head injuries sustained in the avalanche. 

Dan Fredinburg was an experienced climber. He was on Everest last year when an avalanche struck in April.

Dan’s sister Megan shared this announcement via Instagram:
This is Dan’s little sister Megan. I regret to inform all who loved him that during the avalanche on Everest early this morning our Dan suffered from a major head injury and didn't make it. We appreciate all of the love that has been sent our way thus far and know his soul and his spirit will live on in so many of us. All our love and thanks to those who shared this life with our favorite hilarious strong willed man. He was and is everything to us. Thank you.

Dan Fredinburg was the chief of privacy for Google's Google X facility.

He was loved, liked and respected by family, friends, colleagues and associates.

Dan Fredinburg will be missed.

National Park Week in Palm Springs and across America

It is National Park Week!

The nation is buzzing about National Park Week, America's largest celebration of national heritage, April 18–26, 2015. Dr. Hishmeh replies: I obtained the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2002. I’ve been working since then.

The Palm Springs Guru asks: Where did you go to elementary, junior high school, high school, college, dentist school?

Dr. Hishmeh replies: I grew up in Chicago, Illinois and all my education was there.  I earned my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997.

The Palm Springs Guru asks: When did you first come to the Palm Springs area?

Dr. Hishmeh replies: I first visited Palm Springs and the greater Palm Springs area in March, 2003.

The Palm Springs Guru asks: Your reasons for coming to the Palm Springs area?

Dr. Hishmeh replies: The weather! I also appreciate the small town feeling of the area. 
I moved to the area after visiting on many occasions. I decided that I was tired of living in a big city with freezing temperatures. I enjoy the outdoors and the climate of the desert. I like tennis, hiking, bicycling and swimming.
   
The Palm Springs Guru asks: Tell us why people living in Palm Springs, the greater Palm Springs area and visitors to our wonderful and beautiful area should consider dental care from Dr. Mo Hishmeh.

Dr. Hishmeh replies: The people of Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley should consider dental care from Dr. Mo because I enjoy helping people of all ages and my staff and I are skilled clinicians. We use the latest technology with very comfortable setting to deliver the highest quality of dentistry.

I am a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Tri-County Dental Society, and DOCS oral conscious sedation. 
  
My priority for residents of Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley and visitors is to provide excellent dental care while insuring the patient is comfortable.

Dr. Hishmeh replies: I practice gratitude in every aspect of my personal and professional life. I agree with President John F. Kennedy who said "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." 

I love to travel and when I vacation away from Palm Springs and the greater Palm Springs area I like visiting other countries, for example, Germany and Spain.

I have always enjoyed working with my hands. I loved Legos when I was a child. During high school I took art classes. I liked drawing and working with clay. During college I took art classes and I enjoyed painting.
  
I love birds. I have three wonderful birds. Two are Cockatiels; the third is a sun Conure Parrot. Conures are also known for their sweet disposition and playfulness.

My future plans include establishing a bird sanctuary in Palm Springs or the greater Palm Springs area. 
We do have wonderful facilities for wild birds but there is a need for an exotic bird life-care facility for the captive exotic birds in the Coachella Valley.

Cockatiels, parrots, macaws and other exotic, domestic birds are very intelligent. They need and deserve a loving, healthy environment. Some of these birds live for decades; some outlive their owners.
